All about Lavender Common

Rainbow Flag in Field

Our Story

Progress on LGBTQ+ rights in Europe has stalled, and in some places, it is being rolled back. Grassroots organisations are fighting every day to defend their communities, but too often they lack the legal infrastructure, funding, and coordination needed to challenge discrimination and bigotry at scale.

Lavender Common exists to change that. We are a strategic litigation organisation using the law to challenge discriminatory systems, close legal gaps, and set precedents that protect LGBTQ+ people across Europe.

By acting as a central hub connecting grassroots charities, leading law firms, and legal researchers, we make high‑impact litigation faster, more coordinated, and more accessible.

Together with our partners, we are building the legal foundations for a Europe where LGBTQ+ people are protected by the law and free to live with dignity.

Our Team.

Our work relies on the efforts of many people - our trustees, bar panel and academic advisory board members are all vital to our work here at Lavender Common. Here are some of our team and their roles.

Our theory of change

LGBTQ+ charities across Europe often lack access to the legal expertise needed to pursue impactful litigation.

Lavender Common bridges this gap through a centralised Legal Research Hub, connecting organisations with high-quality research, strategic guidance, and pro-bono legal support.

By working with partners across Europe, we help build powerful legal precedents that can advance rights at both national and European levels.
