Protect LGBTQ+ Rights in Court. Donate to Defend Our Freedom.

Our member funded legal fund supports strategic litigation for LGBTQ+ individuals facing discrimination.

Lavender Common is a European NGO dedicated to advancing LGBTQI+ rights through strategic litigation.

Founded in 2023, we work across borders to challenge discriminatory laws, policies, and practices in European courts and institutions. Our mission is to use the power of legal action to defend queer and trans lives, promote equality, and hold states accountable for violations of human rights.

We collaborate with grassroots movements, legal experts, and civil society partners to build landmark cases that drive systemic change and strengthen protections for LGBTQI+ people throughout Europe.

Rooftops

Fighting for LGBTQ+ rights from Lisbon to Tiblisi

From rollbacks on trans recognition laws in countries like Hungary and Slovakia, to rising hate speech across Europe, the courtroom has become a frontline in the fight for equality. Legal challenges have already led to breakthroughs but the pushback is intensifying.

Now more than ever, coordinated legal action is needed to hold governments accountable, defend human rights standards, and ensure that Europe remains a place of safety and dignity for all LGBT people.

Our Plan

Together, we can put together a pan-European legal fund, funding research and strategic cases in both the European Court of Human Rights and Court of Justice of the European Union.

Economic Discrimination

LGBTQ+ people deserve fair pay, safe workplaces, and the same opportunities as everyone else—without prejudice or penalty. Fighting economic discrimination in court means defending our right to work, thrive, and be valued for who we are.

Banning Conversion "Therapy"

Conversion therapy is abuse—pure and simple. It scars lives, shames identities, and violates basic human rights. In Europe, litigating bans on this practice in court means defending dignity, equality, and the freedom to live authentically.

Right to a family

Every LGBTQ+ person has the right to build and protect the family they love—without fear, legal obstacles, or discrimination. Litigating for our right to family means defending our children, our partners, and our dignity in the eyes of the law.

Equitable healthcare access

LGBTQ+ people face real barriers to care—from discrimination at the clinic door to policies that deny essential treatment. Fighting in court for equitable healthcare means fighting for our dignity, our safety, and our right to live healthy, authentic lives.
